Our Mission

The mission of the BOC is to oversee the permissible and prudent expenditure of funds for the construction, repair, and modernization of schools by the Los Angeles Unified School District. In order to effectively carry out that mission the BOC must remain strong and independent. That is our responsibility to the District, the teachers, the students and the taxpayers.

About Us

The School Construction Bond Citizens' Oversight Committee (BOC) is a 15-member independent oversight panel established pursuant to the requirements of the school construction bond measures passed by the voters of the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) and state law. Its members are volunteers appointed by various organizations as directed by state law and the Charter and Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the BOC and LAUSD.

The BOC meets monthly to review and to adopt resolutions recommending the expenditure of construction bond funds to the LAUSD Board of Education. LAUSD staff present proposed projects to the BOC for consideration as "Strategic Execution Plan" amendments. Proposed projects must include descriptions of the project scope, budget and schedule.
